Sabres second in Vernon
The Sa-Hali Sabres senior girls' basketball team placed second at the Pit Classic in Vernon on the weekend.
Sa-Hali fell 53-33 to the No. 3-ranked Holy Cross Crusaders of Surrey in the final.
Emily Hilton notched eight points, pulled down 12 rebounds and added five steals in a losing cause.
The Sabres earned round-robin victories over Princess Margaret of Penticton, 91-32, and Clarence Fulton of Vernon, 68-39.
Sa-Hali edged the host Vernon Panthers 56-49 in a semifinal matchup.
Hilton and Nicole Karstein were named tournament all-stars.
