Red Army marches to victory
The Red Army beat the warriors 6-4 in Novice Orange division play.
Reagan Milburn (3), Matthew Mariona (2) and Nathan Underhill lit the lamp for Red Army, which went with Nic Bradley between the pipes.
Jackson Steed tended goal for the Warriors, who replied with goals from Alesandro Comita (2), Ryan Larson and Joey Stankevich.
Bruins strike the Lightning
The Bruins topped the Lightning 4-1 in Novice Blue division action at Brock Arena on Sunday, Jan. 8.
Ethan Smith, Anthony Wiseman, Stephan Pigeon and Evan Humphrey scored for the Bruins, who had Ryan Sanderson between the pipes.
Reid Zunti added an assist for the Bruins.
Connor Guenther assisted on Blair Domenichelli's goal for the Lightning, who went with Caleb Campbell in net.
Golden Bears bested by Blades
The Blades beat the Golden Bears 7-3 in peewee recreation play on Sunday, Jan. 8, at McArthur Island Sports Centre.
Pierce Huser (3), Connor Hall, Dawson Reid (2) and Jacob Pilon provided the Blades' goals.
Recording assists for the Golden Bears, who went with Ethan Herndier in goal, were Pilon and Tyson Koehl (2).
Replying with goals for the Golden Bears were Andrew Warner (2) and Angus McQuillan-Gordon.
Evan Harms added an assist.
Josh Humphrey was in net for the Golden Bears.
Lions stalk prey on the road
The bantam tier 3 North Kamloops Lions posted two road wins on the weekend.
North Kamloops topped West Kelowna 3-1 in the Little Apple on Saturday, Jan. 7.
Bryce MacDonald, Dario Piva and Kyle Hutton scored for the Lions, who had Matt Hicketts in goal.
Hutton and Zack Birkett provided assists.
The Lions beat the hometown Winfield Bruins 10-3 on Sunday, Jan. 8.
Piva (3), Hutton, Dayne De la Roode (2), Braeden Hart, Tony Dennis, Mac Alberts and Felix Nachtigal lit the lamp.
Hart, Piva, Birkett, Dennis, Hutton, McCoy Pearce-Orr, MacDonald (2), Chet Flanagan (2), Nathan Demers, Josh Huffman and Darion Nordick added helpers.
Caelen Holling earned the win between the pipes.
Battle of the Hawks
The Fire Hawks beat the Ice Hawks 7-3 in atom recreation play on Saturday, Jan. 7, at Interior Savings Centre.
AJ McInnis racked up four goals and Colton Davoren pitched in with a hat-trick for the Fire Hawks, who went with Ryan Clark in net.
Davoren, Rylan McCaleb (2), Justin Baker, Devin Smith, Grady Christiansen and Braeden Crowe added helpers.
Dreyden Cloutier backstopped the Ice Hawks, who were paced by goal scorers Benjamin Pearse, Connor Defoe and Eric Crawford.
Rhys Blundell and Hunter Haukeness added helpers.
Warriors too much for Predators
The Warriors proved too much for the Predators, posting a 12-3 win in bantam house action on Sunday, Jan. 8.
Antonio Guido, Keyron Pavlovich (2), Katerina Charvet, Brady Georget (2), Leo Cadoret, Ty Nielsen (3), Nick Parker and Brogan Lloyd scored for the Warriors, who went with Sage Deneault in net.
Replying with goals for the Predators were Brayden Patterson, Josh Bruce and Michael Barre.
Bryan Caillier was in net for the Preds.
Rebels brave the Frost
The Brock Auto Centre Rebels edged the Southgate Radiator Frost 6-4 in peewee recreation play at McArthur Island Sports Centre on Sunday, Jan. 8.
Scoring goals for the Rebels in support of netminder Matthew Giroux were Jack Wilhelm, Justin Howson, Grayden Baker (2), Josh Olynyk and Jake Tabor.
Adding assists for the winning team were Baker, Howson, Evan Crowe, Evan Jumaga and Evan Sonnleitner.
Replying with goals for the Blue Frost were Cosmo Conradi, Preston Guerra (2) and Tylan Fraser.
Recording assists were Tristan Ernst, Nikolas Shufletoski and Cole Standen.
Zachary Berrevoets backstopped the Blue Frost.
Rocky weekend for Thompson Hotel
The bantam rep tier 4 Kamloops Thompson Hotel Rockies posted an 0-2 record on the weekend.
Kamloops hosted Vernon and lost 5-2 on Saturday, Jan. 7.
The Rockies travelled to Merritt and lost 5-1 on Sunday, Jan. 8.
Scoring goals on the weekend for Kamloops were Jordan Moore, Keaton Noble and Ryan Ignace.
Recording assists were Ignace (2), Josh Campbell (2), Lucas Lott and David Collins.
Payton Schindel was in net on Saturday, with Cole Feere handling the goaltending duties on Sunday.
Spitfires edge the Purple
The Western Roofing Spitfires edged the Kamloops Royal Purple peewee girls 2-1 in OMAHA atom development league play at Valleyview Arena on Sunday, Jan. 8.
Cole Howaniec and Keaton Dell scored in support of winning goaltender Nathan Nesci.
Makenna Fitzgerald broke Nesci’s shutout bid with 1:37 remaining in the game. Ashlynn Neurauter backstopped the peewee girls.
On Saturday, Jan. 7, the Spitfires fell 11-4 to Kelowna 4.
Harjun Serown scored twice, while Dell and Noah Bradley each singled for the Spitfires. Bailey Monteith got the start in net.
Western Roofing travels to Vernon on Saturday Jan. 14, before playing host to Salmon Arm 1 on Sunday, Jan. 15.
Game time at McArthur Island Sports Centre is 3:45 p.m.
Jets have turbulent weekend
The atom development 7 Point Millworks Kamloops Jets fell twice on the weekend, losing 3-2 to Westside on Saturday, Jan. 7, in Kamloops before dropping an 8-0 decision to the Kelowna Thunder on Sunday, Jan. 8.
Alek Erichuk and Carter Adams provided the Jets' goals, with Jesse Kotani adding an assist.
Elijah Joly was in net on Saturday, with Taylor Kaban backstopping the Thunder on Sunday.
Canadians too strong for 'Tips
The Timbits Canadians defeated the Timbits Silvertips 10-3 in KMHA Novice Orange league play on Saturday, Jan. 7, at Valleyview Arena.
Logan Stankoven scored six times in support of netminder Samuel Lewis.
Brendan Hunchak added a pair, while Owen Cupello and Christian Daoust each singled.
Luke Petrie, Colton Day and Braidon Clark scored for the Silvertips, who went with Kiel Schriml between the pipes.
Lions host peewee tourney
The peewee tier 3 North Kamloops Lions hosted a 10-team tournament on the weekend.
North Kamloops was ousted in the semifinal round, losing 3-2 to Merritt.
The Lions posted a 3-1 record in the round-robin, beating the Vernon Lakers, 7-6, West Vancouver, 3-2, and the Westside Warriors, 3-2, before losing 7-1 to Penticton.
Scoring goals at the tournament for the North Kamloops were Breckin Erichuk (3), Garrett Kellington (7), Hunter Dairon (2), Hayden Smale, Eric Marasco, Slater Gordon and Evan Vinterlik.
Adding assists were Erichuk (3), Kellington (3), Eric Marasco (4), Justin MacInnes, Sam Fuoco, Tyler Bruins-Slot and Payton Ball.
The goaltending duties were split between Nolan Mongey and Ethan Langenegger throughout the tournament.
Bullets on target against Warriors
The Bullets shot to a 14-4 win over the Warriors in atom recreation play at Interior Savings Centre on Saturday, Jan. 7.
Spencer Shyiak (4), Dakota Hofmann (2), Liam Campbell, Ben Anderson, Rylen Trent, Liam Rose, Devan De Vries, Kila Pigeon and Alexander Viventi potted goals for the Bullets, who went with Victor Church in net.
Shyiak, Rose, Darcy Rowden and Tanner Berardi provided assists.
Replying with goals for the Warriors were Jacob Haines, Landon Kinney and Ben Prokopetz
Chad Caller and Ethan Moffat added helpers.
Sheehan Tobler backstopped the Warriors.
Deja Vu for Mystics
The peewee tier 1 female Kamloops Royal Purple Mystics dropped two 2-1 decisions on the weekend, losing to a peewee tier 1 girls' team on Saturday, Jan. 7, and an atom development boys' squad from Kamloops on Sunday, Jan. 8.
Madison Ouellette and Makenna Fitzgerald scored the Mystics' goals.
Sydney Carter was between the pipes on Saturday and Ashlynn Neurauter took over on Sunday.
Bantam Blazers split weekend tilts
The bantam tier 1 Kamloops Jardine's Blazers split a pair of OMAHA league games on the weekend.
Kamloops fell 4-1 to Pursuit of Excellence in Kelowna on Friday, Jan. 6, before bouncing back with a 6-3 win over Vernon in the River City on Saturday, Jan. 7.
Lighting the lamp for the Blazers on the weekend were Joe Falsetta, Kevin Davis, Cole Perison, Dexter Robinson, Maxwell James (2) and Cody Allen.
Davis (3), Falsetta, Nick Chyzowski, Rob Johnson and Matt Fichter pitched in with helpers.
Josh Shank took the loss in net on Friday, with Bailey De Palma recording the win on Saturday.
Peewee Blazers host Super Series
The peewee tier 1 Kamloops Jardine's Blazers posted a 1-2 record on the weekend, when teams from Kelowna, Burnaby Winter Club and North Shore Winter club gathered for a Super Series.
Kamloops fell 2-0 to Burnaby and 9-2 to North Shore before bouncing back with a 4-3 win in a rematch with Burnaby.
Ryan Chyzowski (2), Tyler Ward, Ty Kolle (2), and Brendan Semchuk scored on the weekend for the Blazers.
Max Palaga and Reid Gladman split the goaltending duties.
Nothing decided between Preds and Fury
The Predators and the Fury finished their peewee recreation game deadlocked at 3-3 on Saturday, Jan. 8, at McArthur Island Sports Centre.
Scoring for the Preds were Brayden Jensen (2) and Lee McKinnon.
Answering for the Fury were Dylan Huitema-Harrie, Nolan Dicostanza and Dimitri Louvros.
Kenzie Povoas was between the pipes for the Fury, while Colin Clark & Tyson Dmyterko split time in the Predators' goal.
Snakes and bears at Valleyview
The Sandman Kodiaks and Sandman Cobras could not solve anything on Saturday, Jan. 7, at Valleyview Arena, where the two atom recreation teams played to a 4-4 tie.
Tristan Collins, Nolan Virgo (2) and Ethan Dicostanzo potted goals for the Kodiaks, who went with Jared Flodstrom between the pipes.
Virgo, Dicostanzo and Trystan Bahnsen added assists.
Matthew Nixon, Jonah Saemerow, Isaac Derose and Tyler Fernie notched goals for the Cobras, who were backstopped by Nathan Sandulescu.
Fernie and Riley Gray pitched in with assists.
Thunder outgun Yellow Jackets
The Thunder beat the Yellow Jackets 10-7 in atom recreation action at Interior Savings Centre on Sunday, Jan. 8.
Jarrett Mirtle (3), Michael Hutchison (3), Alex Wright (2), Sam Fawcett and Parker Erickson notched goals for the Thunder, who went with Sheldon Gerlib in net.
Adding assists for the Thunder were Wright, Michael Bishop, Seth Cattermole, Blair McLeod, Jacob Patton (2) and Derek Faraday.
Scoring goals for the Yellow Jackets were Benjamin Smith, Zach Bachand (2), Connor Jensen, Jordan Calibaba and Carson Desmarais (2).
Smith, Desmarais and Dusan Cantin tallied assists.
Hayden Buttazzoni tended goal for the Yellow Jackets.
Westside tops the Titans
The Kamloops Titans fell 7-5 to Westside in atom development play on the weekend.
Connor Milburn, Eric Burtuzzi and Jarrod Semchuk each scored a goal and added an assist.
Brandon Gremaud and Jayden Zunti added singles in support of netminder Justin Mitchell.
Wolves post .500 record at tourney
The peewee tier 3 Kamloops Wolves hosted a tournament on the weekend and posted a 2-2 record.
Kamloops earned wins over Merritt, 6-3, and Salmon Arm, 9-0, with losses coming against Vanderhoof, 5-3, and Abbotsford, 7-6.
Seiji Brown, Kordell Primus, Brendan Roche, Austin Morphy and Alex Johnson were among the Wolves' top point producers.
Jarrett Larsen and Dalton Johnston split the goaltending duties at the tournament.
Pursuit of Excellence caught by Elks
The midget tier 2 North Kamloops Elks edged Pursuit of Excellence 6-4 on the weekend.
Dustin Vasil and Adam Hildebrand each scored twice, with Eric Nachtigal and Stuart Beckett adding singles.
Monty Chisholm racked up two helpers, while Nolan Munden backstopped the Elks.
Sharks edge Kougars at Valleyview
The Sandman Sharks edged the Sandman Kougars 6-5 on Saturday, Jan. 7, at Valleyview Arena.
Scoring for the Sharks were Zach Pankuch, Dakota Reid, Devon Tournour, Jordon Swoboda, Yvonne Manwaring and Matthew Yon.
Adding assists were Manwaring, Pankuch, Tournour and Jackson Fitzgerald.
Birch Mireau was in net for the Sharks.
Brandon Gremaud (3) and Riley Demchuk (2) buried goals for the Kougars, who had Summit Krause in net.
Becky Ramgren pitched in with an assist.
RJ Toors wreak Havoc in Kamloops
The RJ Toors topped the Kamloops Havoc 5-2 in peewee recreation action on Sunday, Jan. 8.
Trevor Banks ( 2), Logan Gilroy, Jordon Brown and Andrew Hall scored for RJ Toors.
Santana Casimir, Rebekah Ferguson (2) and Cole Mcleod (2) added helpers.
No scoring details were provided for the Havoc.
Raiders pillage gold medals
The peewee tier 2 Players Bench Kamloops Raiders won gold at a tournament in Prince George on the weekend.
Kamloops doubled Williams Lake 4-2 in the gold-medal game.
The Raiders went 3-0 in the round-robin, with wins over Fort St. John, 6-4, Dawson Creek, 9-3, and Williams Lake, 9-2, before topping Quesnel 4-1 in the semifinal round.

The Autobots scored a 12-3 victory over Team 1 in midget recreation play on Friday, Jan. 6.
Troy Polson, Justin Bartella (2), Duncan Chisholm, Logan VanDamme (2), Rylan Spence (2), Dallas Stachoski, Blair Hardman, Brody Osborne and Chad McQueen scored goals for the Autbots, who had Austin Peel in net.
Polson (3), Bartella (2) and Chisholm (2) added helpers.
Scoring for Team 1 were Ryley Acres, Joel Knuttila and Brett Campbell.
