Schuetze: CIS women's athlete of the week
Diane Schuetze of the TRU WolfPack women's basketball team is the Canadian Interuniversity Sports women's athlete of the week for the period ending Sunday, Jan. 8.
The fourth-year student-athlete led TRU in scoring during home victories over the Manitoba Bisons, 67-49 on Saturday, Jan. 7, and the Winnipeg Wesmen, 84-61 on Friday, Jan. 6, as the WolfPack evened their season record at 5-5, tied for third place in the Canada West's Pacific Division.
She averaged 27 points per game on the weekend, scoring 25 against the Bisons and 29 against the Wesmen.
Schuetze, who leads the Canada West with 19.6 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, is first in the Canadian Interuniversity Sports ranks in free throws (82-104), second in total rebounds (103) and rebounds per game, second in points (196) and fifth in points per game.
The WolfPack women, along with TRU's men's basketball team, are hosting the UBC Thunderbirds this weekend.
The women’s games tip-off at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, and 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, with the men’s games to follow on both nights.
All of the games will be played in the TRU gymnasium.
