Storm .500 on weekend
The Kamloops Storm split a pair of weekend Kootenay International Junior Hockey League games, losing 6-2 to the Heat in Chase on Sunday, Jan. 15, and beating the Osoyoos Coyotes 3-2 on Saturday, Jan. 14, at McArthur Island Sports Centre.
Storm netminder Wade Moyls was peppered with 40 shots against the Heat and goals from Chase Edwards and Brett Dallen were scored in a losing cause.
Ryan Clark, Blake Culbert, Colten De Frias and Jacky Lu recorded assists for Kamloops.
Kevin Leschuk, a former member of the Storm, opened the scoring for Chase.
Marcus Beesley was in net for the Storm against Osoyoos. He made 46 saves on 48 shots and was named the game’s first star.
Lighting the lamp for Kamloops were De Frias, Edwards and Brian McNaney.
Adding assists were De Frias, Edwards, Ryan Skinner, Tyson Harvey, Josh Rasmussen and Tyler Jackson.
Next up for the Storm are the Eagles in Sicamous on Sunday, Jan. 22.
Kamloops’ next home game is scheduled for Jan. 28 against Chase.
