Local skips attending provincial tourney
Two Kamloops Curling Club skips are competing at the Scotties B.C. Women’s Curling Championship in North Vancouver.
Allison MacInnes and her Kamloops rink defeated Brenda Garvey, a KCC member, and her Prince George rink 7-4 on Monday, Jan. 23.
On Monday night, MacInnes improved her record to 2-0 with an 8-6 win over Kelly Thompson’s Richmond quartet.
Meanwhile, Garvey dropped to 0-2, losing 6-5 to Jen Rusnell’s Prince George rink.
On Tuesday morning (Jan. 24), MacInnes knocked off Marla Mallett’s Royal City rink 8-6 before suffering her first loss — 6-5 to Roselyn Craig’s Victoria rink — on Tuesday afternoon.
Garvey’s record dropped to 0-4 on Tuesday with losses to Craig, 8-3, and Thompson, 8-1.
MacInnes fell 6-4 to Rusnell on Wednesday (Jan. 25) morning, moving her record to 3-2. She will meet Marilou Richter of Richmond later today.
Garvey dropped to 0-5 with an 8-4 loss to Kelley Law's Royal City rink.
Nicole Backe's Royal City rink will battle Garvey later today.
Both the MacInness and Garvey rinks will play two draws on Thursday, Jan. 26.
The winner of the 10-team tournament will represent B.C. at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, which runs from Feb. 18 to Feb. 26 in Red Deer.
