The Kamloops Classics won the 35th annual Kelowna Snow Fest Invitational Swim Meet, which ran from Friday, Jan. 20, to Sunday, Jan. 22, in the Little Apple.

Kamloops won 92 medals at the meet.

Colin Gilbert led all Classics with a total of six gold medals, in the 1,500-metre freestyle, 200-metre freestyle and the 200-metre backstroke, as well the 50-, 100- and 200-metre fly.

Gibert set a new club record time in the 1,500-metre freestyle for swimmers age 14 and under, finishing the race in 16:55. That time is the best in Canada for 13-year-old boys.

Megan Dalke, in the 400-metre individual medley, placed second and qualified for the Western Canadian Swimming Championships, which will be held in Winnipeg in February.

Other swimmers achieving qualifying times for the Westerns include Shaina Kloska and Sky Camille.

Qualifiying for the Provincial AAA Championships, which get underway on March 1 in Surrey, were Marina Ackermann, Ethan Phillips, Ben Kloska and Logan MacLeod.

Cohen Freeze helped rack up points for the Classics in Kelowna in the 10 and under boys’ division, placing second in the 50-metre freestyle, 100-metre butterfly and the 200-metre butterfly.

Freeze also placed third in the 50-metre backstroke, 50-metre butterfly, 100-metre breaststroke and the 200-metre backstroke.

Eloise Ladyman placed fourth in in the 200-metre butterfly in the 11- and 12-year-old girls’ division.
