TRU basketball women set for first-ever playoff game

The wait is over for head coach Scott Reeves and the TRU WolfPack women’s basketball team.

TRU (9-9) will play its first-ever Canada West playoff game in Saskatchewan against the Huskies on Friday, Feb. 24.

The Huskies (15-5) won the only meeting between the teams this season 70-62 on Jan. 21 in Saskatoon.

Reeves said his team, led by powerful post Diane Schuetze, has done its homework.

“It has been a good week of preparation and anticipation,” said Reeves, who’s in his fifth year in charge of the Pack.

“We expect a playoff atmosphere in Saskatchewan and are looking to compete to the best of our abilities.”

Schuetze led the Canada West in scoring with 18.6 points per game.

She was among the leaders in the conference in rebounds, free throws and blocks.

Game 2 of the best-of three series will be played on Saturday, Feb. 25.

Game 3, if necessary, will be played on Sunday, Feb. 26.

All of the series games will be played in Saskatoon.
