Loppet welcomes plethora of cross-country enthusiasts
The Overlander Ski Club (OSC) hosted its annual Loppet at Stake Lake Nordic Trails on Saturday, March 3.
More than 110 skiers attended the Loppet and there were plenty of impressive results from Kamloops participants.
Peter Findlay of OSC won silver in the men’s 30-kilometre event with a time of 1:26:16.3.
Rhonda Eden was the top Overlander finisher in the women’s 30-kilometre, finishing seventh with a time of 2:12:41.3.
In the men’s 10-kilometre race, Scott Decker (34:34.6) and Rick Brewster (36:09.4) of OSC won the gold and silver medals, respectively.
Leith McKenzie of Overlander won silver in the women’s 10-kilometre with a time of 40:24.5.
In the youth men’s 10-kilometre, Alex McDonald won silver with a time of 33:50.3.
The OSC had a one-two-three finish in the women’s 10-kilometre, with Nicole Vermey (33:50.7), Alyssa Manhard (40:24.8) and Sarah Manhard (42:14.6) doing the damage.
Liam Grover (07:12.8), Jonas Decker (07:19.9) and Drew Kanigan (16:28.4) of Overlander placed one-two-three in the 3.5-kilometre boys’ race.
Anneka Spice (19:07.8) and Josephine Brewster of OSC won the silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the girls’ 3.4-kilometre race.
Carolyn Collins (02:25.4) won silver and Wade Kanigan (02:46.7) won bronze in the one-kilometre kids’ race.
