Storm outduel Knights, move to Round 2
It took seven games, but the Kamloops Storm escaped the first round of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League playoffs, and they host Game 1 of Round 2 tonight (March 6) at McArthur Island Sports Centre.
The Storm — who topped the North Okanagan Knights 3-1 in Game 7 on Saturday, March 3, at McArthur — will host the Sicamous Eagles tonight at 7 p.m.
Sicamous took seven games to knock off the Revelstoke Grizzlies, winning the series-deciding game 4-0 early Monday (March 5) morning in Revelstoke.
That game did not start until just before midnight on Sunday, March 4, due to the Eagles dealing with terrible road conditions and taking a long route — via Vernon and Nakusp — to Revelstoke.
The game ended after 2 a.m. on Monday.
Game 2 of the Storm-Eagles series — the Doug Birks Division final — is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, at McArthur.
