Firehawks bite Cobras
The Firehawks beat the Cobras 6-2 in atom recreation play at Valleyview Arena on Saturday, March 3.
Registering points for the winning team were AJ McInnis (2G, 2A), Colton Davoren (3G), Braeden Crowe (1G), Grady Christiansen (2A) and Hunter Coleman (1A).
Ryan Clark backstopped the Firehawks.
Jonah Saemerow scored twice for the Cobras in support of goaltender Nathan Sandulescu.
HERicanes earn split
The Kamloops HERicanes split a two-game female atom recreation series with the Williams Lake Dangerous Divas at Valleyview Arena on the weekend.
Kamloops topped Williams Lake 3-1 on Saturday and the Divas answered with a 5-2 win over the HERicanes on Sunday.
Registering points for the HERicanes on the weekend were Ashley Irvine (1G), Natalie Knight (1G), Nola Clarke (1G), Cassidy Stasiuk (1A), Nicole Thomas (2A), Carsen Moffett (1G), Mackenzie Gottfriedson (1G) and Amanda Thomas (1A).
Heather Russell was between the pipes for Kamloops in both games.
Bears face Dragon fire
The RJ Toor Dragons edged the Golden Bears 5-3 in peewee recreation playoff action on the weekend.
Andrew Hall, Cole McLeod, Jordan Brown (2) and Garrett Miller scored for the Dragons, who went with James Lamb between the pipes.
Mcleod, Hall, Logan Gilroy and Riley White pitched in with assists.
Scoring for the Bears were Jordan Devries and Jacob Stewart (2)
Keegan Emsland, Evan Harms and Ethan Crawford racked up assists.
Warriors defeat Army
The Warriors edged Red Army 9-8 in Novice Orange action on the weekend at Valleyview Arena.
Jakob Sherwood (3), Maddox Boehm, Ryan Larsen (2) and Jackson Steed (3) scored goals for the Warriors.
Ashton Dorey (2) and Alesandro Comita added assists.
Reagan Milburn (6), Devin Benson and Austen Krug scored for the Army, who went with Tyler Trudeau in net.
Warriors in tough
The Kamloops Sandman Warriors posted a 1-1-2 record at the Atom Blast 2 Tournament, which wrapped up on Sunday.
In their opener, the Warriors lost 7-4 to the Sandman Kodiaks.
The Warriors bounced back with a 10-3 win over Penticton and a 5-5 tie with Chilliwack before losing 13-3 to the Sandman Kougars.
Scoring for the Warriors on the weekend were Kaedyn Bert (4), Jacob Haines (5), Amanda Martin (2), Chad Caller (3), Ben Prokopetz (4), Corbin Guenther, Caleb Zwarich, Bryson Wood and Robert Gerow.
Adding assists were Bert, Caller, Guenther, Haines (3), Gerow, Landon Kinney (2), Ethan Moffat, Sheehan Tobler, Jordan Zienowicz, Jakob Spencer, RJ Gerow and Ashton Todds.
Tobler backstopped the Warriors at the tournament.
Bulldogs on the prowl
The Bulldogs edged the Strikers 7-6 in Novice Blue division action at Brock Arena on the weekend.
Registering points for the Bulldogs were Maxwell Hinkson (2G), Colton Woitas (2G), Temeke Gottfriedson (2G), Keegan Leblanc (1G, 1A), Jacob Mclean (1A) and Alijah Paquette (1A).
Tallying points for the Strikers were Brayden Gouin (1G), Dylan Barclay (1G), Jax Anderson (2G), Jagger De Alagordendiere (2G, 1A), Isaac Bean (2A) and Dreyden Bhe (2A).
Owen Geiger was in net for the Bulldogs, while Makenna Burns backstopping the Strikers.
Lions win title
The bantam tier 3 North Kamloops Lions have qualified for the provincials playoffs, which get underway later this month in Burnaby.
North Kamloops blanked South Okanagan 5-0 in an Okanagan Mainline Amateur Hockey Association championship game on Saturday at McArthur Island Sports Centre to clinch a provincial berth.
Brady Georget (1G), Dario Piva (2G), Felix Nachtigal (1G), Dayne de la Roode (1G), Darion Nordick (1A), Bryce MacDonald (2A), Josh Huffman (2), Braden Hart (1A) and McCoy Pearce-Orr (1) got on the scoresheet for the Lions.
North Kamloops netminder Caelen Holling kept South Okanagan off the scoresheet.
Nothing decided at Brock
The Kamloops Blades and Kamloops Fury tied 5-5 in peewee recreation action at Brock Arena on Saturday.
Dawson Reid, Connor Humphrey, Tyson Koehl (2) and Pierce Huser scored for the Blades, who went with Ethan Herndier in net.
Reid, Calum Carrigan, Riley Moore and Jacob Pilon added assists.
Scoring goals for the Fury were Kyle Bergman, Chance Austinson, Skye Connors (2) and Dimitri Louvros.
Connors, James Bates Nolan Dicostanzo and Connor Lafleur pitched in with assists.
Kenzie Povoas backstopped the Fury.
Bruins outduel Ninjas
The Bruins beat the Ice Ninjas 5-2 in Novice Blue Division action at Brock Arena on Sunday, March 4.
Ryan Sanderson (2), Evan Humphrey, Adam Haines and Abigail Sanderson scored for the Bruins, who went with Kurtis Pearson in net.
Haines, Humphrey and Bradley Boudreau added assists.
Ty Moffett and Paxon Haggoardo scored for the Ice Ninjas, and Hudson Diodreon added an assist.
Logan McLaughlin was in net for the Ice Ninjas.
Mystics end season
The peewee tier 1 Kamloops Royal Purple Mystics were eliminated from the playoffs in Game 2 of a best-of-three series with Vernon at McArthur Island Sports Centre on Saturday.
Vernon won 2-0 and will advance to the provincial championships in Richmond later this month.
Canadians on fire
The Canadians beat the Silvertips 11-6 in Novice Orange action on Saturday at Valleyview Arena.
Logan Stankoven (7G), Jason Carroll (2G), Matthiew Coxon (1G) Mitchell Coxon (1G), Christian Daoust (2A), Brendan Hunchak (1A) and Tristan Coetzer (1A) recorded points for the Canadians, who went with Kolby Hay in net.
Tyson Galloway and Brett MacDonald scored three goals apiece for the 'Tips.
Galloway (2), Jake Poulsen (1) and Austin Hammond (1) recorded assists.
Braidon Clark was in net for the Silvertips.
Spitfires sputter
The Western Roofing Spitfires had a tough go of it at the OMAHA Atom Development playoffs in Penticton on the weekend.
The Spitfires tied Salmon Arm 2-2, and lost 6-4 to the Kamloops Jets and 3-2 to Penticton in round-robin play.
Josh Van Unen scored both goals against Salmon Arm in support of netminder Bailey Monteith.
Van Unen, Jayden Russell, Lane Grunerud and Harrison Ewert tallied against the Jets, and Nathan Nesci had goaltending duties.
Reed Watson and Keaton Dell scored against Penticton, with Nesci back between the pipes.
The Spitfires ran up against Salmon Arm again in a consolation game, this time falling 8-1.
Ewert had the lone Western Roofing goal, while Monteith and Nesci split netminding duties.
Kodiaks post .500 record
The Kamloops Sandman Kodiaks posted a 2-2 record at the Atom Blast Tournament in the River City on the weekend.
The Kodiaks beat the Kamloops Sandman Warriors 7-4 and the Penticton Canucks 8-3, but lost 2-1 to the Chilliwack Jets and 8-0 to the Langley Eagles.
Ethan Dicostanzo (3G, 1A), Nolan Virgo (2G, 1A), Domenico Comita (1G, 1A), Michael Love (1G), Frank Cupello (1G), Kylie Emsland (2A), Tristan Collins (1A) and Luc Ryan (1A) were among the Kodiaks who got on the scoresheet on the weekend.
Nolan Austin and Jared Flodstrom split the goaltending duties.
Blazers bounced
The peewee tier 1 Kamloops Jardine's Blazers were swept by Kelowna in best-of-three OMAHA playoff series on the weekend.
Kelowna beat Kamloops 7-1 in Game 1 and followed that with a 3-2 win in overtime in Game 2.
Max Patterson (1G), Tyler Ward (1G, 1A), Ryan Chyzowski (1G), Garrett Ewert (1A) and Brett Olstad registered points for Kamloops.
Reid Gladman and Max Palaga split time in net in Game 1. Gladman backstopped the Blazers in Game 2.
Titans held winless
The atom development Kamloops Titans posted an 0-3 record at a tournament in Penticton on the weekend,
Kamloops lost 9-2 to Kelowna 2, 6-0 to Westside and 5-2 to Kelowna 1.
Connor Milburn (3) and Eric Bertuzzi scored goals for the Titans.
