Sabres fall short
The Sa-Hali Sabres senior girls topped the Wellington Wildcats of Nanaimo 60-52 to place seventh at the B.C. AA girls basketball championship, which wrapped up on Saturday, March 10, at the Tournament Capital Centre.
Nicole Karstein led all Sabre scorers with 14 points, Shenise Sigsworth racked up 13, while Emily Hilton and Kiana Rainville each scored 11 points.
The Britannia Bruins of Vancouver beat Lambrick Park of Victoria 69-61 to win gold.
Sa-Hali’s boys had a disappointing end to their provincial tournament, losing 74-54 to Abbotsford Christian in the game that decided 13th and 14th place.
Mission won the boys’ title with a 70-56 win over St. Thomas More Collegiate of Burnaby.
