Golden Brown again
Corryn Brown’s Kamloops rink added more gold to its resumé on the weekend at the Optimist International under-18 curling championships in Toronto.
The Brown rink — skip Brown, Erin Pincott at third, second Samantha Fisher and lead Sydney Fraser — beat Alberta 7-5 in the gold-medal game on Sunday, April 8.
“This is definitely up there in my top three for sure,” the skip told KTW on Monday, April 9.
“We all had really consistent weeks.”
Alberta, which was undefeated until the final, was the team to beat at the tournament, said Brown.
“They never miss,” she said.
“If you gave them a hit, they would never roll out.”
Brown cruised through round-robin play, posting a 5-0 record with wins over Wisconsin, New Brunswick, Quebec, Saskatchewan and Japan.
The Kamloops rink knocked off Manitoba 7-0 in a semifinal draw.
Ken Brown and Brian Fisher share coaching duties with the Brown rink.
Included in the Brown rink’s accomplishments thus far are gold-medal performances at the 2011 Canada Winter Games, the 2011 juvenile girls’ provincial championship and the 2010 B.C. Winter Games.
