Provincial glory

There was plenty to cheer about for Kamloops athletes at the B.C. High School Track and Field Championships, which wrapped up on Saturday, June 2, in Burnaby.

Kala Stone of the South Kamloops Titans won gold in the senior girls’ 1,500-metre race with a time of 4:34.55.

Daniel Elke of the NorKam Saints won silver in senior boys’ short hurdles competition with a time of 15.48 seconds.

Breanna Derker of the Titans won bronze in senior girls’ hammer throw with a toss of 44.01 metres, while South Kam’s Jesse Mohr placed third in pole vault, clearing 3.5 metres.

Kendall Fitzgerald of Sa-Hali won bronze in the Grade 8/Grade 9 girls’ 1,500-metre race with a time of 4:53.42.
