Spitfires grab gold
Branden McKimmie came up big in a penalty-kick shootout for the under-11 Kamloops Spitfires at the Revelstoke Little Bear Youth Soccer Tournament on Sunday, Sept. 9.
The Kamloops goalkeeper stopped four of five shots and the Spitfires brought gold back to the River City with a 3-2 victory.
Reehin Lindores and Joe Gysel scored in the shootout for the Tournament Capital representatives.
Kamloops topped Canmore 5-2, tied Revelstoke 3-3 and lost 2-0 to Shuswap FC in round-robin play and advanced to the final on goal differential.
Jacob Fassler (4), Brent Robertson (4), Ethan Leggatt and Blake Grantham scored on the weekend for the Spitfires.
