Slaying Dragons
The peewee Kamloops Wildcats improved to 2-1 in community football play with a 20-6 win over the Kelowna Dragons in the Little Apple on Sunday, Sept. 9.
Solid offensive-line play from Bryce Welz, Preston Jenkins, Jagger Reid and Brennan Ettinger paved the way for Ben Prokopetz, who racked up 183 yards and three touchdowns.
Quarterback Carsen Day targeted receivers Mattias Nelson, Thomas Dyck and Reggie O’Rourke for 63 yards and Sean Smit kicked a convert to round out the scoring.
Darcy Rowden led the defence with a forced fumble and seven tackles.
Colby Griffiths, Dayton Tomlin, Hunter Driver and Cole Fink combined for 14 tackles.
Cameron Treadwell forced a fumble and Eric Thibault and Rorik Munson each recovered a fumble for the winning team.
The Wildcats host the Kelowna Lions at noon on Sunday, Sept. 16, at Hillside Stadium.
