Soccer goal-post safety addressed
The Kamloops Youth Soccer Association is addressing goal-post safety.
"As you are likely aware, there has been a fair amount of attention drawn to the issue of portable soccer goal posts in recent months, largely the result of the death of a young soccer player in the Yukon," a KYSA press release said.
"The B.C. Soccer Association, our parent body, has just issued a bulletin to all member associations pertaining to goalpost safety.
"In that document there are a number of recommendations and guidelines that primarily address the matter of unsecured goal posts and metal-cup hooks that are prevalent on a lot of permanent and portable goal posts.
"The KYSA, along with other soccer organizations in the city, will be working with the city's parks, recreation and cultural services staff in the coming weeks to ensure that the soccer goal posts being used in Kamloops follow the recommendations and guidelines proposed by the BCSA."
