Storm open season with a win
Strong goaltending and penalty killing boosted the Kamloops Storm to victory in their Kootenay International Junior Hockey League opener.
The Storm killed 11 of 12 Spokane Braves’ power plays en route to an 8-3 win at McArthur Island Sport and Event centre on Friday, Sept. 14.
Kamloops is hosting the North Okanagan Knights at McArthur at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21.
Storm netminder Marcus Beesley stopped 36 shots in the win on Friday.
Ian Chrystal, Spencer Schoech (2), Blake Culbert, Taylor Ward, Scott Smith, Brett Watkinson and Daniel Buchanan scored for Kamloops.
