Bronze Tomahawks

The Kamloops Tomahawks placed third at the peewee tier 4 tournament in Revelstoke on the weekend after posting a 1-2-1 record.

Kamloops’ only win was a 5-3 triumph over Langley. The Tomahawks tied Lake Bonavista, 1-1, and Revelstoke, 6-6, and lost 2-1 to Chase.

Getting on the scoresheet were Jacob Pilon (2G, 2A), Isaac DeRose (1A), Adam Gammel (2G, 1A), Skye Connors (3G, 1A), Jayden Russel (4G), Josh Bishop (1A), Keenan Dabels (1A), Josh Bishop (2G, 1A), Jayden Grant (2A), Tyson Smith (1A) and Zach Bachand (2A).

Kaleb Virgo and Justin Mitchell alternated games between the pipes for Kamloops.

Game MVP awards went to Virgo, Connors, Russel and Bishop.

Vibe sink SFU

Simon Fraser University (SFU) was unable to keep up with the Kamloops Vibe in South Coast Female Amateur Hockey League play in the River City on the weekend.

Kamloops earned a pair of wins — 4-2 on Saturday and 4-0 on Sunday — over SFU.

Recording points for the Vibe on the weekend were Sarah Kurzac (3G), Bianca Mirabelli (3A), Desiree Blair (2G), Shelby Easton (1G, 1A), Alyssa Reid (2A), Chelsey Schmietenknop (1G), Gaylene Smith (1G) and Melinda Smith (1A).

Alissa Hibbert was in net for the first game and Ashley Fisher recorded the shutout in the rematch.

The Vibe sit atop the league at 6-0-0.

Marasco saves the day

Eric Marasco played the hero for the Kamloops Players’ Bench Raiders in a peewee tier 2 Okanagan Mainline Amateur Hockey Association tilt with Salmon Arm on Sunday at McArthur Island Sports and Event Centre.

The Raiders down 4-3, Marasco scored with 25.6 seconds remaining in the third period to salvage a tie.

Also scoring for Kamloops were Tyson Gayfer, Evan Vinterlik and Cole Howaniec.

Adding helpers were Vinterlik, Luke Recchi, Breckin Erichuk, Elias Wallace and Justin MacInnes.

Ethan Langenegger backstopped the Raiders.

Kings dethroned

The Oilers edged the Ice Kings 4-3 in a back-and-forth atom recreation tilt at Valleyview Arena on Saturday, Oct. 20.

Cohen Freeze, Cameron Ryles, Jackson Diehl and Liam Edstrom notched goals for the Oilers.

Diehl and Dawson Pittman added assists.

Scoring for the Ice Kings were Austin Burke, Dexter Williams and Olen Gelineau.

Andrew Gemsa pitched in with a helper.

Hinkson’s hatty

Matthew Hinkson scored a hat trick in an 8-5 win for the Roughnecks over the Warriors on Saturday at McArthur Island Sports and Event Centre.

Josh Glover, Keegan Leblanc, Ben Smith, Alexander Denis and Domenico Comita also scored for the winners, who went with Sam Fawcett in net.

Recording points for the Warriors were Jacob Haines (2G, 1A), Connor Defoe (1G), Justin Baker (1G), Corbin Guenther (1A) and Liam Campbell (1G).

Joey McKinnon was in net for the Warriors.

One is enough

Michael Van Unen was the only goal scorer in a 1-0 win for the Kamloops Predators over Trail in bantam tier 2 play on Saturday, Oct. 20.

Rylan Van Unen and Bennett Hunter provided assists on the goal.

Matthew Hicketts recorded the shutout.

Thunder sound off

The Thunder downed the Titans 11-4 in atom recreation play on Saturday.

Scoring for the Thunder were Hunter Coleman, Zac Banks and Jacob Spencer, with two goals each, and Nolan Austin, Raymond Shockey, Jared Flodstrom and Tristan Hunt.

Kiel Schriml backstopped the Thunder.

Nathan Underhill and Jameson Rende each notched a pair of goals for the Titans, who went with Isaac Bean between the pipes.

The air up there

The Eagles soared over the Jets on Saturday, earning a 3-1 win in bantam recreation play.

Zach Rachynski (1G) and Nick Robins (2G) scored for the Eagles.

Recording points the Jets were Brandon Frenks (1G) and Santana Casmir (1A).

Mini Blazers dwarfed

Team 1 skated to a 9-6 win over the Mini Blazers on Sunday at McArthur Island Sports and Event Centre.

Tallying points for Team 1 were Josh Olynyk (3G, 1A), Garrick Cassidy (1G), Austin Chrystall (1G), Tyson Dmyterko (1G), Preston Marcoux (1G), Hudson Irvine (1G), Ben Pearse (1G), Jordan Mariona (1A) and Cosmo Conradi (1A).

Victor Church backstopped Team 1.

Keaton Dell (4G), A.J. McInnis (1G), Riley Moore (1G), Nick Jittler (1A), Chloe Jordan (1A) and Tyson Pratt (1A) recorded points for the Mini Blazers, who went with Kieran Outeridge between the pipes.

Preds top the 'Heads

The Brock Auto Centre Predators downed the Brock Auto Centre Steelheads 6-4 in peewee recreation play at McArthur Island Sports and Event Centre on Sunday.

Jacob Stewart (3G), Kai Farenholtz (1G), Jordon Calibaba (1G), Nolan Mongey (1G), Jonah Saenerow (3A)

and Matthew Nixon (1A) tallied points for the Predators, who went with Ryan Clark in net.

Recording points for the Steelheads were Corden Davidson (2G), Andrew Warner (1G), Ethan Crawford (1G) and John Black (1A).

Summit Krause backstopped the Steelheads.

Canes tie Blazers

The Kamloops Junior Blazers tied the Kamloops Hurricanes 3-3 in atom recreation play at Brock Arena on Sunday.

Recording points for the Junior Blazers were Connor Kennedy (2G), Stran Smith (1A) and Braidon Clark (1G, 1A).

Brady Pawlachuk backstopped the Blazers.

Tallying points for the Hurricanes were Dakota Reid (1G), Eric Crawford (2G), Elias Newport (1A), Talon Manuel (1A) and Joshua Rankin (1A).

Ryerson Palmer handled goaltending duties for the ‘Canes.

Bantam Mystix split

The bantam female Kamloops Mystix split a pair of games on the weekend.

Kamloops edged Prince George 3-2 before falling 6-0 Salmon Arm.

MaKenna Fitzgerald (1G), Kendall Fitzgerald (2G), Anna Morrish (1A) and Zoe Birkett (1A) got on the scoresheet for Kamloops on the weekend.

Sydney Carter was in net against Prince George, with Ashlynn Neurauter taking over against Salmon Arm.

Threes and sixes

Team 6 earned a 7-5 win over Team 3 in atom recreation play on Saturday.

Ryan Mitchell (2G), Patrick Bennett (2G), Tristan Coetzer (2G, 1A), Conlin Erichuk (1G) and Zachary Gilbert (1A) racked up points for Team 6, which went with Samuel Lewis in net.

Replying for Team 3 were Tyler Fernie (3G), Michael Degasso (1G), Bryce Bertuzzi (1G) and Aiden Dell (1A).

Bryton Neufeld backstopped Team 3.

Thunderbirds fly high

The Thunderbirds earned an 8-2 win over Team 2 in peewee recreation play on Saturday

Recording points for the Thunderbirds were Grayden Baker (3G), Jordan Devries (1G),  Evan Crowe (2G), Jarod Pringle (1G, 1A), Jesse Kotani (1G) and Evan Jumaga (1A).

Matthew Giroux was the winning netminder.

Jamie Daniels and Connor Humphrey scored goals for Team 2, which went with Joshua Harris between the pipes.

Lions get the job done

The North Kamloops Lions earned a pair of wins in peewee tier 3 play on the weekend.

North Kamloops hammered hometown Vernon 8-0 on Saturday before returning home to beat Salmon Arm 12-2 on Sunday.

Recording points on the weekend for the Lions were Hunter Dairon (3G), Corson Nordick (3G), Haden Nordick (2G), Benjamin Ward (3G, 1A), Josh Bymoen (2G,1A), Brendan Mucha (2G), Lane Grunerud (1G, 3A), Brandon Gremaud (2G, 4A), Calum Carrigan (1A), Kaden Dempsey (2G, 1A), Reagan Coombes (1A), Eric Bertuzzi (1A), Nathan Thiessen (1A) and Lachlan Tomm (1A).

Nathan Nesci earned the shutout on Saturday and Taylor Kaban got the win on Sunday.

Snipers and Vipers

The Snipers downed the Vipers 10-7 in atom recreation play on Sunday.

Elessio Louvros, Ethan Dicostanzo and Ethan Gremaud each recorded hat tricks for the Snipers and Reese Tate had a single, while Brian Fraser, Paxon Haggard and Brendan Bubela had two-goal games for the Vipers and Josh Hamling scored once.

Matthew Yon backstopped the Snipers, while Sheehan Tobler was in net for the Vipers.

Venom victorious

Michael Hutchison won the hardest-working player award for the Kamloops Scotiabank Bandits in a 4-0 loss to the Vernon Venom in OMAHA atom development play on Sunday at McArthur Island Sports and Event Centre.

Kamloops is hosting Kelowna 3 at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Valleyview Arena.

Vernon gets the W

Vernon came from behind to edge the hometown North Kamloops Lions 4-3 in midget tier 1 play on Friday.

Jacob Coelho, with two goals and a helper, and Monty Chisholm, with a goal and one assist, paced the Lions’ attack.

Nolan Munden was in net for North Kamloops.

North Kamloops wins a pair

The bantam tier 3 North Kamloops Lions posted two victories on the weekend, topping Vernon 2-1 and blanking Kelowna 7-0.

Recording points on the weekend for North Kamloops were Conan Poss (1G, 1A), Zac Austin (1G, 1A), Parker Matheson (1G), Gabe Graham-Boyd (1A), Wyatt Brook (3G, 2A), McCoy Pearce (1G), Garrett Kellington (1G), Harrison Rosch (2A), Matthew Richardson (1A), Colten Gerlib (1A), Jaxon Reid (1A) and Austin Hashimoto (1A).

Dalton Johnston and Nicolas Boehm recorded wins between the pipes.

Battle at Brock

Team 10 earned an 11-5 win over Team 2 in midget recreation play at Brock Arena.

Racking up points for the winners were Riley Polacik (3G),  Jake Latin (2G, 2A), Brian Rockvam (2G), Brenden Ruttan (1G, 1A), Shane Pratt (1G, 2A), Tyson Johnston (1G), Seven Scheifele (1G), Josh Huffman (1A), Bryce Paul (1A), Josh Campbell (1A), Darion Nordick (1A).

Derek Lapierre and Jake Birkland split time between the pipes for Team 10.

Recording points in a losing cause were Jordan Bigham (2G, 1A), Jordan Kealty (1G, 1A), Colton McChan (1G, 1A) and Duncan MacDonald (2A).

Kaleb Priestlay and Caelen Halling shared goaltending duties.

Oilers sneak past Rockets

The Oilers edged the Rockets 6-5 in bantam house play on Sunday.

Garren Thomas scored the winning goal off a pass from Matthew O’Laney with 8:56 left in the third period.

Pacific Thompson had a great game for the Rockets, recording three points, including two goals.

Goalies Scott Poelzer of the Oilers and Sage Deneault of the Rockets both played well.
