Winter Classic bronze
The bantam recreation Kamloops Zimmer Auto Group Jets won bronze at the Vernon Winter Classic, a 10-team tournament.
Kamloops beat the Vernon Spartans 5-3 to claim third place.
In round-robin play, the Jets opened the tournament with a 0-0 tie against the Spartans on Friday, then lost 5-4 to the Vernon Bulldogs on Saturday morning before bouncing back with a 7-3 win over the Vernon Flyers.
Recording points on the weekend for Kamloops were Ryan Fielding (2G), Karn Mahal (2G), Austin Morphy (6G), Slater Gordon (4G), Lee McKinnon (1G) and Landon Wamboldt (1G).
Emma Gottfriedson and James Lamb alternated games between the pipes for Kamloops.
Morphy, Gottfriedson, Gordon and Conner McCoy earned Game MVP honours.
Owning Vernon
The peewee tier 1 Kamloops Jardine’s Blazers blanked Vernon 4-0.
Kamloops swept the season series with Vernon 5-0.

Kings iced
The Sandman Roughnecks topped the Sandman Ice Kings 7-3 in atom recreation play at Valleyview Arena on Saturday.
Racking up points for the Roughnecks were Xander Denis (1G), Domenico Comita (2G), Maxwell Hinkson (2G. 2A), Ben Smith (1G), Maxwell Smith (1G, 2A), Josh Glover (2A), Colby Cooper (1A) and goaltender Sam Fawcett (1A).
Replying with points for the Ice Kings were Matt Coxon (3G), Austin Burke (1A) and Dexter Williams (1A).
Hayden Buttazzoni was in net for the Ice Kings.
Flyers soar past Crushers in novice KMHA play
John Hicks backstopped the Kamloops Flyers to a 7-1 win over the Kamloops Crushers in Novice Orange division play.
Racking up points for the winners were Brady Milburn (4G, 2A), Nicolas Leggett (1G, 2A), Jack Kennedy (1G) and Owen Aura (1G).
Colton Yawney tallied for the Crushers.
Warriors win
The Sandman Warriors cruised to a 16-6 win over the Sandman Junior Blazers in atom recreation play on Saturday at Valleyview Arena.
Tallying points for the Warriors were Jacob Haines (5G, 3A), Nick Kuhlmann (1G), Amanda Martin (2G, 1A), Liam Campbell (4G, 2A), Alex Duneault-Isnardy (1G, 1A), RJ Gerow (1G, 1A), Corbin Guenther (2G, 2A), Justin Baker (3A), Connor Defoe (1A) and Hunter Haukeness (1A).
Joey McKinnon was in the crease for the Warriors.
The Junior Blazers were paced by Braidon Clark (3G), Brady Pawlachuk (2G), Luken Murray (1G, 2A), Connor Kennedy (2A), Stuart Hollander (1A) and Lochlan Scholefield (1A).
Bhavin Serown backstopped the Blazers.
Twice beaten
The bantam female Kamloops Royal Purple Mystix suffered a pair of losses on the weekend.
Kamloops was beaten 10-1 by a midget Salmon Arm team on Friday and 8-1 by a midget Kelowna squad on Saturday.
Recording points for the Mystix were Kendall Fitzgerald (1G), Katelynn Merritt (1A), Coralee Mitchell (1G) and MaKenna Fitzgerald (1A).
Ashlynn Neurauter was in net on Friday, with Sydney Carter taking over on Saturday.
Nesci nets two
Stefan Nesci paced the Kamloops Players Bench Raiders in a 6-2 win over Pursuit of Excellence of Kelowna in bantam tier 2 play on Saturday in Armstrong.
Also recording points for the Raiders were Bryce McDonald (1G, 2A), Rylan VanUnen (1G, 1A), Brysen Watson (1G), Brendan Mongey (1G), Max Patterson (4A), Matthew Facchinelli (1A) and Michael VanUnen ( 1A).
Matthew Hicketts was the winning netminder.
