Blazers batter 'Tips

The Kamloops Blazers cruised to a 6-0 win over the Everett Silvertips on Thursday, Feb. 7, at Interior Savings Centre.

Kamloops clinched a playoff spot with the victory.

Cole Ully paced the Blazers with two first-period goals and goaltender Cole Cheveldave did his part in the crease, stopping all 20 pucks that came his way.

Tyler Hansen accepted a clever Colin Smith feed in the second period and beat 'Tips netminder Daniel Cotton, who made 29 saves and took the loss.

The Blazers ran away with the game in the third period, when JC Lipon, Marek Hrbas and Dylan Willick scored to put the game out of reach.

Several fights broke out in the game's waning minutes — the first between JC Lipon and Landon Oslanski, the second between Ryan Rehill and Reid Petryk.

With the win, third-place Kamloops is seven points back of the second-place Kelowna Rockets in the Western Conference.

Portland leads the way with 89 points, five more than Kelowna.

The Red Deer Rebels come to Kamloops on Saturday, Feb. 9.

Game time at ISC is 7 p.m.
