Sabre girls move on, boys ousted

The Sa-Hali Sabres boys' and girls' basketball teams suffered different fates in Round 1 at the AA provincial high school basketball championships, which got underway in Kamloops on Wednesday, March 6.

Sa-Hali's girls, ranked 12th, knocked off the fifth-ranked Windsor Dukes of North Vancouver 48-43 at the Tournament Capital Centre.

The Sabre boys, ranked 15th, were knocked out of championships contention, losing 71-41 to No. 2-ranked Brentwood College of Mill Bay.

Sa-Hali's girls are slated to play a quarter-final matchup today with the Wellington Wildcats of Nanaimo. That game gets underway at 5 p.m. at the TCC.

The Sabre boys meet Duchess Park of Prince George in a consolation game today, with tip-off scheduled for 11:45 a.m. at TCC.
