The Tri-City Americans showed more killer instinct than the Kamloops Blazers and skated away from the River City with a 3-1 win on Wednesday, Jan. 9.
Kamloops could only capitalize on one of seven power-play opportunities, while the Americans were 1-for-3 with the man advantage.
Eric Comrie made 34 saves and was solid between the pipes for the Americans.
Tim Bozon opened the scoring for Kamloops early in the first period on the power play.
Michal Plutnar scored for Tri-City in the second period to tie the game 1-1 and Beau McCue gave the visitors a lead 30 seconds into the third stanza.
Justin Feser sealed the deal, giving the Americans a 3-1 lead with an empty-net marker late in the third.
Blazer netminder Cole Cheveldave made 24 saves and took the loss.
Next up for the Blazers are a pair of weekend games in Prince George against the Cougars, on Friday, Jan. 11, and Saturday, Jan. 12
