Kamloops residents Hardy Spitman and Frances Perszon have won more than $50,000 in a recent Lotto 6/49 draw.

They matched fire of six numbers drawn on Aug. 28, taking home a total of $54,451.80.

“We play to dream. You can only win if you buy a ticket,” Perszon said.

The ticket was purchased at the Petro-Canada store on Rogers Way in Aberdeen. Spitman and Perszon were at the lake when they decided to check their ticket on the BCLC Lotto! app.

“Fran checked the numbers on her cellphone and then we realized we won,” Spitman said. “It was great to see more than a free play when checking on the app.”

The winners plan to pay down their mortgage with their prize.
