For CanGo Grannies, the plant sale must go on

And, despite the pandemic, go on it did, with four members holding plant sales in their yards, raising a record $5,300.
CanGo Grannies plant sale 2021

The annual CanGo Grannies Plant Sale at Gaglardi Square downtown had to be cancelled again this year due to the pandemic.

The CanGo Grannies raise money for the Stephen Lewis Foundation, which supports grandmothers in sub-Saharan African countries who are raising their grandchildren because the children's parents died of AIDS.

Instead of the usual sale at Gaglardi Square, four CanGo members held plant sales in their yards and raised almost $5,300. This is a record amount for any plant sale the Grannies have held and, say organizers, shows the generosity of the people of Kamloops.

The CanGo Grannies wish to thank the following for donating plants for the sales: Gardengate Horticulture Program, Country Garden Greenhouse, TRU Horticulture Program, TRU Friends of the Garden and Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre.

The group also wants to send thanks to friends and neighbours who answered the plea for more plants and to customers for their support.
