Visitors to Kenna Cartwright Park may notice crews, equipment and some fenced areas on trails during the week of April 19.
Crews from FortisBC will be excavating and inspecting four small sections of the natural gas line on utility rights-of-ways within the municipal park, the largest in B.C.
When complete, each site will be restored to its previous condition, using seeds and materials appropriate to the park. FortisBC said this is routine work it does to ensure its natural gas system continues to operate safely in the community.
The work will require Red-Tail Hawk Trail to be closed at the Ponderosa Trail crossing. Visitors are asked to avoid that area if possible and to watch for any vehicles and equipment that might be crossing or travelling along trails in the park. Visitors are asked to follow the direction of signs or crew members working near trails and stay within the marked paths.
Crews will be returning to complete similar work in June.
