Kamloops police dog Fargo celebrates seventh birthday

Fargo has been with the Mounties since he was born at the RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre in Innisfail, Alta., and has served in Newfoundland, Alberta and British Columbia with his partner, Cpl. Steve Prior.

The Kamloops RCMP detachment is on Tuesday celebrating the seventh birthday of police dog Fargo.

Fargo has been with the Mounties since he was born at the RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre in Innisfail, Alta., and has served in Newfoundland, Alberta and British Columbia with his partner, Cpl. Steve Prior. Fargo is also part of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team and has assisted in many high-risk calls.

“We are planning a steak dinner to celebrate Fargo’s birthday, but no alcohol — we’re both on call,” Prior quipped. “Later, he will chill with the family.”
