Neighbourhood rounds in Kamloops with Cod Gone Wild

The Okanagan-based Celtic band will play Kamloops United Church on Dec. 23

Cod Gone Wild will play a Christmas show on Friday, Dec. 23, at Kamloops United Church, downtown at St. Paul Street and Fourth Avenue.

The Okanagan-based Celtic band released its Christmas album The Neighbourhood Rounds in 2018 and began a tradition of playing up-close and personal shows.

Lead singer Andrew Mercer said he grew up in a small Newfoundland neighbourhood where doing the "neighbourhood rounds" meant going house to house and having a drink during Christmas.

"It is my hope that in the spirit of the season, despite this tumultuous world that we live in, that people can come together,” Mercer said. “Visit your neighbours, check in on a friend that you haven't spoken to in a while and, most importantly, make time for family.”

The band will be performing as a trio, including Mercer, Susan Aylard on fiddle and Sean Bray on electric guitar.

Tickets are $30, available on the band's website at Showtime is 7:30 p.m.
