The city is seeking nominations of Kamloops residents who have shown exemplary community service.
The city hopes to recognize 2020 and 2021 recipients this fall.
Each year, the city honours citizens via an awards ceremony, acknowledging individuals who have dedicated time and service to make a difference in the community. The city postponed the 2020 Exemplary Service Awards amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The format of the awards will depend on the state of the pandemic and will follow provincial health orders in place at the time. The awards will include individuals nominated both this year and last year.
Nominations are accepted in two categories: young adult (ages 29 and younger) and adult (ages 30 and older). Criteria includes demonstrated commitment to various endeavours or services to the community over a period of time, residents of the city during the community service and service considered to be voluntary contribution to the growth and development of the community or well-being of its citizens.
Nominations cannot come from family members of nominees and current members of council, city staff and city groups do not qualify.
The nomination period runs until April 30, 2021, and packages can be emailed to cgelineau@kamloops.ca or dropped off at city hall, which is downtown at Victoria Street and First Avenue.
