Live music — with an audience — returns to The Blue Grotto on Friday night (Sept. 17).

The downtown nightclub at 319 Victoria St. will have The Serious Dogs on stage and a limited audience of 50 per cent capacity, though dancing is prohibited due to the provincial health order.

Admission is $10 and those wishing to visit the nightclub must show proof of vaccination to enter.

Owner David Johnston has installed plexiglass and completed other pandemic-related safety measures in preparation for the anticipated Sept. 7 return to pre-pandemic living in B.C.

But the emergence of the COVID-19 delta variant and a spike in cases and hospitalizations led to more restrictions, meaning the nightclub was only able to open for two days earlier this month — after being closed since March 2020 — before having to shut down again.
