The first production of the new year by the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra will be Songs & Dances, a concert inspired by folk music from by a variety of composers.
The performance will be available to view online from Jan. 15 to Feb. 13, with a potential in-person screening at the Paramount Theatre on Feb. 7, if provincial health guidelines allow.
Songs & Dances features string orchestra works inspired by folk songs, including work by Canadian composers Marjan Mozetich, John Burge and Bill Douglas, and Hungarian composers Leo Weiner and Bela Bartok.
The performance will also feature two KSO musicians as soloists: Heather Beaty, the KSO's principal flutist, and Marea Chernoff, the orchestra's principal oboist.
Tickets for the performance are $15, or $25 for a household pass. A special $5 ticket price is also available for those who have been financially impacted by the pandemic.
Should they proceed, tickets for the in-person screening at the Paramount Theatre will be $20.
Tickets can be purchased online at kamloopslive.ca.
