The Kamloops Arts Council's Crossing Bridges program is reaching out a little further this year, delivering "creativity parcels" to clients who they have not been able to see since March due to the pandemic.
Normally, the outreach program partners clients of social service agencies with local artists for art instruction and workshops. But with COVID-19 guidelines in place, that is difficult to do, leading to the new initiative.
A total of 85 parcels are being prepared by the Kamloops Arts Council, containing art supplies and instructions.
Those parcels will be delivered in the coming weeks to previous participants in the Crossing Bridges program who relied on the workshops.
"When I broached this idea to some of our artist facilitators they jumped at the chance to create gift bags that would reach those that they had worked with prior to the shut down," said Lorel Sternig, KAC outreach co-ordinator.
The KAC also said it will be developing online art workshops for the program in January.
