The Kamloops Interior Summer School is officially cancelled.
The Kamloops Music Collective said last month it was hoping classes could still proceed if pandemic conditions had eased, but now says the risk is too great.
"We know this cancellation will leave a void in the calendars of many families, and we are tentatively working on developing smaller workshops that may be delivered later in the summer,” said Kim Mangan, Kamloops Music Collective executive director.
Those smaller workshops will be run under a new program called the KMC Summer Series. The number of students will have restricted registration numbers and protocols in place to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.
The announcement comes the same day as a press conference by B.C. Education Minister Rob Fleming, who said there is still no timeline to re-open the province's schools.
