Arrest made, drugs and bullets seized in Yew Street police investigation

A Kamloops RCMP focus on an area of North Kamloops with heightened crime concerns from residents led to an arrest and seizure of drugs and ammunition on Wednesday (Aug. 4).

At about 3 p.m., Kamloops Mounties were operating a covert investigation in response to concerns about drug use and crime in the Yew Street area.

Const. Crystal Evelyn said that while conducting surveillance, officers saw what appeared to be a drug deal and a 30-year-old Kamloops man, well known to police, was arrested.

Evelyn said suspected illegal drugs, packaging and bullets were seized,

The man was released, pending the investigation’s conclusion and subsequent charge recommendation related to drug trafficking.
