COVID-19 update: 1,518 new cases, 13 further deaths over past 24 hours

Interior Health again reported the most new cases out of the province's five health regions

B.C. is reporting 1,518 new cases and 13 further deaths due to COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.

For the second consecutive day, Interior Health is the health region with the most new cases, reporting 431 over the past 24 hours.

Elsewhere, there were 424 new cases in Fraser Health, 227 in Northern Health, 217 in Vancouver Coastal health and 217 in Island Health.

The number of those in hospital remains relatively unchanged over the past 24 hours, with the province reporting 985 in hospital on Thursday. Among those patients are 145 in ICUs.

Interior Health has 7,759 of the province's 25,554 active cases — the second-most behind Fraser Health, which has 10,057 active cases.

B.C.'s two-dose vaccination rate among those age 12 and older was reported at 90.1 per cent on Thursday, while the three-dose (booster) rate was reported at 47.6 per cent.

Over the past week, unvaccinated people have accounted for 25.4 per cent of all cases and, over the past two weeks, have accounted for 31.1 per cent of all hospitalizations.
