COVID-19 update: 405 new cases and six further deaths over past 24 hours

B.C. is reporting 405 new cases of COVID-19 and six further deaths over the past 24 hours.

Two of the deaths occurred in Interior Health residents, while three were in Fraser Health and one was in the Vancouver Coastal Health region.

For cases, Interior Health reported 97 new cases on Friday. Elsewhere, there were 110 new cases in Fraser Health, 96 in Island Health, 57 in Northern Health and 45 in Vancouver Coastal Health.

The province now has 3,071 active cases 276 people in hospital and 95 of those patients requiring critical care in ICUs.

As of Friday, 85.1 per cent of all eligible British Columbians age five and older, had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 81.8 per cent have received at least two doses. Among adults age 18 and older, 88.5 per cent have received two doses.

Over the past week, those not fully vaccinated have accounted for 58 per cent of all cases and, over the past two weeks, for 65.9 per cent of all hospitalizations.
