COVID-19 update: 406 new cases, five further deaths over past 24 hours

The province is reporting 406 new cases of COVID-19 and five further deaths due to the disease over the past 24 hours. Interior Health accounts for 95 of the new cases and one of the deaths.

The province is reporting 406 new cases of COVID-19 and five further deaths due to the disease over the past 24 hours.

Interior Health accounts for 95 of the new cases and one of the deaths. The four others who died were residents of the Northern Health region.

There were 133 new cases in Fraser Health, 86 in Northern Health, 51 in Island Health and 41 in Vancouver Coastal Health.

B.C. now has 4,694 active cases with 445 patients in hospital, including 137 in ICUs — 88 per cent of whom are unvaccinated.

Most of the province's active cases are in the Fraser Health region, with 2,157. Interior Health currently has 613 active cases.

Over the past two weeks, 72.4 per cent of all hospitalizations have been among those who are partially vaccinated or not vaccinated, while 64.4 per cent of all cases over the past week have been among the same group.

The province's vaccination rate as of Tuesday is 90 per cent for a single dose among those age 12 and older, and 85.4 per cent for at least two doses.
