Impaired driver in Kamloops stopped twice in one day

Within a two-hour period, the same man was stopped for driving while impaired and without insurance or a licence

A Kamloops man didn’t get the message and was arrested for prohibited driving on Oct. 15, just hours after being stopped for impaired driving.

At about 1:15 p.m., a Kamloops RCMP officer was making patrols around Highridge Drive and Todd Road in the Barnhartvale area when she stopped a vehicle for having no insurance.

A roadside breathalyzer test was administered on the driver, resulting in a “warning” reading in the .05 to .08 blood-alcohol reading. He was issued a three-day driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded. In addition, he received violation tickets driving without insurance and without a licence.

About two hours later, at 3:25 p.m., the same man was seen driving a different vehicle in the 5000-block of Dallas Drive. He was arrested for prohibited and impaired driving and taken to RCMP cells downtown.

Charges are anticipated pending the investigation’s conclusion.
