Kamloops council has approved a development permit for another industrial building in the Iron Mask industrial area in the southwest area of the city.
Council on May 30 voted 8-0 in favour of granting the permit to Lane’s End Holdings Ltd., which intends to build a 1,271-square-metre, two-storey industrial building with office space at 1460 Iron Mask Rd. The development will come with 19 parking stalls.
The light industrial-zoned property is located about four kilometres east of six properties — 2950 Bowers Pl. and 3139, 3175, 3205, 3285 and 3323 Sugarloaf Rd. — that have also received development permits.
Coun. Mike O’Reilly abstained from the vote due to a conflict of interest as he is president and CEO of Comet Industries, the company redeveloping a nearby site into an industrial park.
The property at 1460 Iron Mask Rd. is currently vacant and surrounding businesses include an auto repair shop to the north, a light industrial equipment business to the south and an automotive sales and rental business to the east. The property is located in close proximity to Highway 1 and is about 280 metres from the nearest transit stop.
