A Kamloops Mountie was injured during a mental-health apprehension on Monday (Sept. 13).
Const. Crystal Evelyn said officers were called to an address in the 200-block of Victoria Street downtown to apprehend a man wanted on a Form 21 mental-health warrant.
When police found the man, he attempted to flee, then punched an officer in the head.
“The officer suffered a minor injury, but is expected to recover fully,” Evelyn said.
The man was released to the hospital, pending the investigation’s conclusion and subsequent charge assessment.
