The Thompson-Nicola Regional Library (TNRL) and the British Columbia General Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU) have ratified a new three-year collective agreement, which is in effect until Dec. 31, 2025.
Highlights of the agreement include wage increases retroactive to Jan. 1, 2023, and improvements to vacation entitlement and special leave. Wage increases are two per cent, plus 60 cents per hour in years one and two, and four per cent in year three. The parties also agreed to a number of language changes that promote the effective operation of the library and support the needs of library employees.
“The board of directors is pleased to see that this agreement has been ratified by both parties,” Thompson-Nicola Regional District board Barbara Roden said. “This agreement ensures the stability of our library services, which many people in our communities depend on.”
The TNRL provides library services through 12 branches, including two in Kamloops, the award-winning mobile library, a digital library collection and library home service.
