A recent bust yielded Kamloops Mounties $20,000 worth of recovered stolen goods — including pilfered dirt bikes — from a Valleyview motel.

On Nov. 25, police responded to a report of an overnight break and enter at a business in the 2000-block of the East Trans-Canada Highway in Valleyview at about 8:10 a.m. Upon reviewing surveillance footage from the scene, and from other businesses in the area, officers identified a suspect, leading them to a motel a block away, in the 1900-block of the East Trans-Canada Highway.

Const. Crystal Evelyn said the suspect answered to door to police officers, who spotted a number of dirt bikes inside, including one they recognized to be stolen.

Police did not specify how many other stolen items were seized.

The suspect was arrested and police obtained a search warrant to enter the room, from where they retrieved stolen property, which was returned to the business, which police have not named.

The suspect was released with a court date, pending the investigation’s conclusion and any charge approval.

Anyone who witnessed or has information related to this investigation is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file number: 2021-41120.
