Pedestrian killed in Valleyview

A fatal accident between a vehicle and pedestrian that claimed the life of a man in his 40s has Kamloops police looking for witnesses.

On Sunday, Nov. 14, at about 9:30 p.m., Kamloops RCMP responded to the accident involving a red sedan in the 1700-block of the East Trans-Canada Highway, which is between Vicars and Comazzetto roads in Valleyview.

Evelyn said paramedics and firefighters were trying to save the man’s life when police arrived.

The man was taken to Royal Inland Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Evelyn said the driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene, noting police don’t suspect any criminality to have occurred.

Police obtained statements from those in the area as part of their investigation and continue to seek witnesses and dash-cam footage.
