A police presence on Cornwall Street in North Kamloops on Tuesday afternoon (May 23) was connected to a shooting from the day before about three kilometres away that left a woman in hospital on life support.
Numerous Kamloops Mounties responded to the residential street near the Halston Connector at about 4:30 p.m. on May 23 as part of their investigation into the May 21 shooting in a townhouse at 800 Valhalla Dr. in Brocklehurst, where a woman in her 30s was shot by someone known to her.
A person who knows the tenant of the townhouse told KTW the victim, who is not the tenant, was shot in the head.
Evelyn told KTW police made no arrests at the Cornwall Street address, adding the RCMP, with this type of investigation, would not typically announce any until charges were laid.
Evelyn said the victim remained on life support as of the afternoon of May 24.
Police are asking residents in the Valhalla Drive area to check their security and dash cameras to see if they captured anything that might help investigators. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-17869.
