RCMP identifies man killed in shooting in Scotch Creek

The victim of the June 25 shooting was 32-year-old John Vance. A man was taken into police custody, but later released.

John Vance, 32, died on June 25, 2021, after being shot in the 4100-block of Squilax-Anglemont Road in Scotch Creek.

Police are releasing the name of a man shot to death on June 25 in Scotch Creek.

Chase RCMP were called to the 4100-block of Squilax-Anglemont Road at about 5:45 p.m. on that day and found that John Vance. 32, had been shot. He subsequently died.

Vance lived in the area.

Police said the name and photo of Vance are being released in a bid by police to get more information from the public relating to Vance’s whereabouts prior to his death.

Police said a man was taken into police custody, but later released.

The investigation continues and is being led by the the RCMP’s Southeast District Major Crime Unit.
