In its latest report, the Kamloops RCMP have reported 31 thefts from vehicles and six bicycle thefts from May 9 to May 15.

In the week prior, the RCMP noted 25 thefts from vehicles and six bicycle thefts.

Police advise people ensure their vehicles are kept locked and valuables out of plain sight — preferably in the trunk of the car — to help prevent this crime of opportunity.

Items commonly stolen from vehicles include smartphones, wallets, tools, garage door openers, sunglasses, keys, documents, car accessories, cash or change and personal electronics such as laptops, tablets and GPS systems.
