There were 53 thefts from vehicles and seven bike thefts across the city from Sept. 13 to Sept. 19.

All areas of the city were affected, with 15 of the thefts occurring downtown.

Police advise people ensure their vehicles are kept locked and valuables out of plain sight — preferably in the trunk of the car — to help prevent this crime of opportunity.

Items commonly stolen from vehicles include smartphones, wallets, tools, garage door openers, sunglasses, keys, documents, car accessories, cash or change and personal electronics such as laptops, tablets and GPS systems.

If you see suspicious behaviour in your neighbourhood, contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
