The City of Kamloops is planning a $1.1-million drainage and stormwater project next year near the Xget’tem’ Trail due to erosion caused by flooding over the years.

UPDATE: Kamloops RCMP said the Xget’tem Trail in Peterson Creek Park had reopened as of 4:40 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11. KTW has a call in to the detachment in a bid to get more details on the suspicious object that caused the path's closure for about five hours.

Kamloops Mounties have closed the Xget’tem Trail in Peterson Creek Park as of 11 a.m. on Saturday (Sept. 11) as they investigate a report of a suspicious object on the popular walking and biking route.

Staff Sgt. Sascha Fesenko said the paved trail is closed from the top, near Sa-Hali secondary, all the way to the bottom, where the trail begins in Peterson Creek Park, to the bottom where the trail begins.

The public is asked to avoid the area. Police will update the situation and advise when the path will reopen.
