The first of three office buildings that comprise The Hive was the focus of an official opening on Thursday (June 16).
The Hive is a project along Lansdowne Avenue, between Fifth and Sixth avenues, being being brought to life by A&T Project Developments Inc and Invictus Properties Inc.
The first building, at the corner of Lansdowne and Fifth, is six storeys in height and spans 60,000 square feet and the first class A commercial building to be constructed within the Kamloops region in nearly 20 years.
Among tenants ready to call The Hive home are Urban Systems, McMillan Dubo Law Group, Investors Group Wealth Management, Smile Dentistry, Business Development Bank of Canada, William Wright Commercial Real Estate Services and Stills House, a new local distillery created by the team behind Cordo Resto + Bar at the nearby Delta by Marriott Kamloops.
“To me, what makes this project so exciting is how community spirit is celebrated through this space in a few ways,” says, Brittany Cameron with Urban Systems Ltd.
“First, our company roots run deep in Kamloops, as we were founded here over 46 years ago. Being a part of The Hive provides an opportunity for us to show how we are invested in the community spirit of downtown Kamloops. And second, being able to create a beautiful vibrant space for our people to come together, to do great work, to connect and enjoy this beautiful setting also boosts our own sense of community spirit.”
A selection of office spaces remain available for purchase/lease. The development includes surface and underground parking.
The commercial development was announced in January 2020, just after Kamloops council’s decision to expand its permissive tax exemption bylaw in the downtown and North Kamloops business district to commercial developments.
