A fire on Friday night that send black smoke billowing into the sky east of Kamloops was the result of three trucks burning in a logging company’s yard.
At about 8 p.m., multiple explosions were heard and thick black smoke was seen billowing into the sky on Shuswap Road, near the Lafarge plant, east of the city limits.
LeBeau Bros.Logging Ltd. confirmed on their Facebook page that three trucks had gone up in flames.
“Thanks to everyone who came out to help tonight,” Tracy LeBeau wrote on the page, alongside photos of the fire. “Words can’t express our appreciation. We’ll let you guys know, when we do, what caused it. As of now, thee trucks gone. Good news, nobody injured.”
About 20 minutes later, firefighters were called to a fully engulfed mobile home fire in Foothills Estates in Brocklehurst, near Singh Street and Ord Road.
Kamloops Fire Rescue said a woman was taken to hospital for treatment of burns. The fire is believed to have started in a hedge. Damage appears to be greatest on the exterior of the mobile home.
