A transit expansion planned for Kamloops this year has been deferred by the province.

The deferred expansion included 3,500 extra service hours to routes in Westsyde and Pacific Way (routes 3 and 4), weekday evening and weekend service for Mount Paul (route 18) and 3,000 hours of service to extend handyDART weekend hours.

According to the city, the province did not support service expansion this year and the plans have been deferred until next year.

Seth Wright, manager of government with BC Transit, told council recently that BC Transit hopes to come back in a month or two with a revised expansion proposal, which he said may be adjusted due to inflationary pressures.
